On October 11, 2019, Hunkapi is celebrating 20 years of service at its annual "Open Your Heart Gala". Hunkapi Farms is a 10-acre farm located on the SE corner of Cactus and 96th. The farm is a non-profit that provides weekly equine-assisted services for clients with emotional, behavioral and/or physical disabilities. The gala helps provides funding for a wide variety of programs including Special Olympics training and biannual competition event, therapeutic intervention for First Responders with PTSD, mindfulness seminars, substance abuse and recovery counseling, grief counseling, and expanded programs for clients on the autism spectrum.
