Minimum Permit Application

This Minimum Permit process is for small scope projects.

WARNING

  • You must submit a digital plan application for all construction work including additions, patio covers, carport enclosures, walls/fences, retaining walls, and accessory buildings these projects must start with the City of Scottsdale - Digital Plans Menu (scottsdaleaz.gov).
  • Storage buildings less than 200 sq ft and non retaining fences less than 3 ft height require site plan approval. Submit a digital plan application. Select Accessory Structure (Detached Guest House, Ramada, Shed, Fence). In Scope of Work enter Site Review Only less than 200 sq ft structure or non retaining fence less than 3 ft in height.

Plumbing Permits
Required to install, alter, reconstruct, or repair any plumbing system, gas system, lawn sprinkler supply, or water heater replacement. select
  • DISCLAIMER: Connection to a sewer lateral will not be issued via Minimum permit online. On-site sewer connection, to an existing on-site sewer lateral, requires an over-the-counter permit, available at the One Stop Shop only.
  • A new sewer lateral, to city public system, requires a ROW permit, through the online submittal of a sewer tap plan. Please visit https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/planning-development/one-stop-shop/water-rates/sewer-tap for further sewer tap information.

Electrical Permits
Required to install, alter, reconstruct or repair electrical wiring on any building, structure, swimming pool, or mechanical equipment. select

Mechanical Permits
Required to install, alter, and or replacement of existing HVAC systems, except portable or window units. select

Window/Door Replacement
Replacement of an existing window and or door at a single-family residence. select
  • Windows and doors shall be installed in an existing opening. No structural changes.
  • Windows and doors shall comply with the following energy code requirements:
    • SHGC: 0.25 MAX and U-FACTOR: 0.40 MAX. (leave the energy code stickers on the window until the building inspector has approved the inspection).
    • Windows provide the escape and rescue open shall provide the minimum dimensions for height, width, and area.
    • Windows and doors shall include safety glazing as required for the location.

Minimum Combination Permits
Minor Interior Remodels only. No structural or floor plan changes are allowed under the scope of this permit. select
