Knowingly submitting a false police report or false information is a misdemeanor under Arizona State law.
If you would like to report one of the following crimes, please call (480) 312-5000:
- A weapon was used to threaten
- Lost or stolen weapons or medication
- Crimes where you are unable to supply a valid Scottsdale address
Theft (without burglary) of items valued at $2,000 or less (or bicycles of any value)
Burglary is when someone enters a structure (residence, business, your vehicle, storage shed, gym locker, rear yard, fenced area such as a walled in patio where the wall is 4' or taller, etc.) with the intent to commit a theft.
If this was a burglary you will need to call (480) 312-5000.
Theft is when someone takes the property of another with the intent to deprive the person of such property, obtain services by misrepresentation, or comes in control of lost property, with no attempt to find the owner.
If the item has a value over $2,000 (unless it is a bicycle) you will need to call (480) 312-5000 to report the stolen item(s).
Identity Theft
Identity Theft is when someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personally identifying information such as their name, social security number, driver’s license or financial account information, in some way that involves fraud or deception, typically for economic gain.
Shoplifted items valued at $2,000 or less
Shoplifted items are items taken that were displayed for sale.
If the items have a value over $2,000 you will need to call (480) 312-5000 to report the stolen items.
Damaged items valued at $2,000 or less
Criminal damage occurs when a person defaces or damages your property. Examples include slashed car tires, damaged plants or landscaping, keyed car paint.
If the damaged items have a value over $2,000 you will need to call (480) 312-5000 to report the damage.
Lost items over the value of $2,500
Lost property is technically not a crime, but we will make a courtesy report for items valued over $2,500.
If the items lost have a value under $2,500 they cannot be reported. It is NOT a crime.
STOLEN items cannot be reported as Lost. If the stolen item(s) are valued over $2,000 you will need to call (480) 312-5000 to report the stolen item(s).
